DAY 1: Cusco - SACRED VALLEY
Our private transport will pick you up from the airport to meet your guides and to be taken to the community of Chinchero. After a short visit to the ruins and market place, your bikes will be prepared to start the first trail.  To help you acclimatize, this will be an easy ride, starting at 3,800 masl / 12,467 ft, a wide path mostly downhill with some gentle up hills. On the way we will pass lake Huaypo, enjoy the colourful crop fields, visit Moray’s Inca agricultural centre and the salt pans of Maras. We will have a picnic and finish our day with a more technical descent into the Sacred Valley, from here we will be taken back to the hotel.

DAY 2: ALONG THE SACRED VALLEY
After breakfast we will be taken to Pumamarca ruins archaeological centre, where pre-Inca and Inca ruins coexist. From here, we will start a technical bridle path descent through Inca terraces for about an hour until we reach the town of Ollantaytambo. After a ride through the town’s authentic Inca streets we will follow a bridle path with both gentle ups and downs, along the Urubamba river, with fantastic views to the Verónica snow-capped mountain and the Urubamba mountain range. We will trek by the famous Inca trail to Machu Picchu through single and double track dirt roads. On the way we will be met by our transport, and where possible, enjoy a delicious picnic.

DAY 3: Quishuarani TO Lares
After an early breakfast we will be taken to the Lares mountain pass where we will begin our descent along an Inca trail for approximately 1 hour and a half. We will then go uphill for 30 minutes (4 km / 2.5 miles) until we reach the community of Quishuarani (3,800 masl / 12,467 ft ). From here we start the two hour uphill trek until the mountain pass at 4, 200 masl / 13,780 ft. Support will be provided by our porters and horses to carry our bikes and anyone who feels too tired to walk. From the mountain pass, we get back on our bikes and ride downhill for 3 hours through a spectacular bridle path, passing through the community of Cuncani until we reach the campsite in Lares.  During this ride you will enjoy the spectacular view of glaciers, colourful high Andean lakes and a great variety of birds and mammals.  This makes the perfect setting to have our box lunch and finish the day with a relaxing dip into the medicinal hot springs, close to the campsite.
Optional: If the group prefers, instead of the trek to reach the mountain pass, we could continue our descent from the first mountain pass to Lares, and continue by the same valley in a two-hour trail. In this option, camping will also be close to the hot springs in Lares.

DAY 4: FROM LARES MOUNTAIN PASS TO CALCA
After breakfast we will be taken to the Lares mountain pass where we will start a long and enjoyable descent of 1,300 metres/ 4,264 ft in altitude range. We will ride a spectacular and fairly technical Inca trail that will lead us into a narrow creek, through forests and crop fields and finally arrive in the town of Calca in the Sacred Valley. This is said to be one of the best descents in Peru.  Transfer to the hotel.

DAY 5: MÁLAGA MOUNTAIN PASS
After breakfast our transport will take usto the Málaga mountain pass, 4,400 masl / 14,436 ft and from here, we will descend along a very technical and enjoyable bridle path. This is the same trail used by “Mega Avalanche”, the famous international competition held yearly in the Sacred Valley.  We will descend approx. 1,600 masl / 5,249 ft in altitude and finish in the Sacred Valley, very close to Ollantaytambo.
